Job description

About the job

I work with my shopkeepers offering and actively supporting the Sales Function to maximize turnover, volume and profit. I do this by helping secure the mechanical sales system, easy buying process and by highlighting opportunities for growth. 

Your assignment

Consumers/ Customers   

  • I lead and manage my team to understand our PMA and competition, our consumers and their living situations and use this to improve our customers’ shopping experience.
  • I ensure my team uses this knowledge to proactively secure our competitive advantage to be the first choice for home furnishings.  
  • I ensure my team works with our store and SO to secure that our customer needs are reflected in our range and prices, now and in the future.   
  • I analyse my individual store performance and customer feedback with my team and use this information to improve the mechanical sales system and easy buying process in our stores.  
  • I see the store through the eyes of my customers and give constructive, honest feedback to my shopkeepers on how they can improve the shopping experience for our customers. 

Commercial 

  • I lead and manage my team and work with the store team to grow our business with sustained long term profitability.
  • I do this by:  Knowing our global priorities, our range, PMA and competition. I use this information to develop a strategy and set goals for my area of the home, with my shopkeepers. This is based on constant improvement in order to meet the needs of our customers now and in the future.  
  • I work with the shopkeepers in my home furnishing business to ensure they understand the strategies and how best to present/work with the range to support the commercial strategy set by the Service Office.  
  • Communicating the priorities for my area(s) clearly to the shopkeepers in a way that motivates them to take ownership for the achievement of our agreed goals.
  • Ensuring my team analyses current trends and optimize commercial opportunities. This is achieved by working in cooperation with the store commercial team and the SO sales team.
  • Using the matrix to develop both my own and their competence in order to capitalize on commercial opportunities.  
  • Ensuring my team and I maximize the commercial opportunities through the effective use of all media and support the business growth by contributing to the commercial activities focusing on the commercial priorities which will inspire more people to visit the store.  
  • To secure the retail foundation and have the ability to coach and support the sales teams in respect of the functional review subject matter.  
  • Networking with my colleagues in IKEA Southeast Asia to share good examples and successes.  
  • Ensuring that all my actions are aligned with our objective of becoming the leader in life at home and growing with sustained long term profitability.   Ensuring my team analyses current trends and optimize commercial opportunities. This is achieved by working in cooperation with the store commercial team and the SO sales team.  
  • Ensuring the future perspective for my home furnishing business is taken into account when we rebuild or create a new commercial focus in my Store.   Ensure the process for NEWS and EDS is in place, minimizing unnecessary markdowns, and ensuring NEWS are given full focus and opportunity to thrive.  
  • I plan News and EDS with my team as part of the store masterplan.  
  • I work with the Ecommerce team and my local web page to highlight, offers, campaigns and news.

  • I recruit my team through IKEA values.
  • I identify what skills are needed now and in the future to achieve the objectives in their role. I also identify the motivations and capabilities that will compliment my existing team.  

  • I create an environment of trust by encouraging open, constructive, honest, two way feedback with my team, shopkeepers/sales managers and other colleagues.  
  • I secure the training of my team to ensure they are well informed, commercially focused and can support the selling process in the store and as we develop in the multi-channel environment.
  • I ensure product training and services for my home furnishing business.   I work with and contribute to the development of shopkeepers to ensure their commercial skills continually improve.
  • I understand their business development needs, give them constructive feedback and work with them in order to secure their competence development.  
  • I set clear goals and expectations and regularly follow these up with my team.
  • I recognise good performance and take action to improve poor performance.
  • I encourage my shopkeepers to work as a team and network between stores in order to share good examples and successes.  
  • I actively lead and ensure that I have an updated succession plan.  
  • I am responsible for my own development and look to my manager and my matrix for support in improving my competence. 








Your profile

 Experience of working in a customer-focused service industry   Proven record of consistently meeting agreed budgets and goals, and working on plans over a number of years   Ability to generate healthy competition   Ability to prioritise and organise work in order to make the most efficient use of time available   Experience of using knowledge of customer shopping behaviour to develop business plans   Ability to quickly develop knowledge of the local market and business conditions   Interest in people’s everyday life at home and in home furnishing   Proven ability to drive profitability   Proven ability to build and maintain an effective network
