As Production Engineer for Purchasing in Mexico, you will develop and secure the engineering and quality needs to deliver IKEA products satisfying customer expectations in all aspects of Democratic Design.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Lead the engineering and quality agenda with the overall goal to improve the customer satisfaction;
Be the main contact towards the suppliers and work as part of the business team together with the supplier to develop and secure the production process, handling of quality deviations and secure compliance to all IKEA requirements;
Perform product audits and production risk assessments at suppliers;
Lead the supplier development for quality and manufacturing with responsibility to identify and implement actions and execute SDP projects;
Lead improvement projects related to production processes and share best practices / knowledge by gathering and conveying product and production experiences to create pre-conditions for the suppliers to take full responsibility for their performance;
Lead product deviation process with sense of urgency towards the causing part and capture learning from previous product deviations. Secure root-cause analysis, stock correction and implementation of corrective and preventive actions for received quality alarms and claims;
Evaluate potential new supplier’s production facilities and quality systems.

Understanding of IKEA Strategic Landscape, IKEA Business model for growth and key processes (e.g. PDP, SDP, DPOP) and IKEA Purchasing Manual;
Understanding of relevant Category Plans and Total Cost;
Understanding of Democratic design and customer needs and expectations regarding function, customer friendliness and products critical to quality (CTQ);
Good knowledge of Quality assurance set up, including cost calculation and materials;
Knowledge of Six sigma and Lean production methods and tools ;
Very good knowledge of production processes and technologies;
Good knowledge of IKEA requirements, standards and test methods;
Good knowledge IKEA documentation system (e.g. PDOC and CONNECT);
Knowledge of audit and assessment techniques, and analysis of suppliers working methods and performance; and
Experience with multiple material categories is an advantage.
We expect you to be fluent in spoken and written English and able to communicate confidently and clearly. Ideally, you are also fluent in spoken and written Spanish.
